The head of state met with young scientists in the building of National Academy of Sciences
President Kassym Jomart Tokayev, on a working visit in Almaty, inspected the renovated building of the National Academy of Sciences «Gylym Ordasy» and held a meeting with the Scientific community.
The president focused on the measures taken in the country to develop science and higher education. The amount of scholarships for training qualified personnel has particularly increased by one and a half times in recent years. There is 12 branches of prestigious universities in Kazakhstan. Several more will open soon. More and more universities are engaged in scientific researches. Technology parks and engineering centres are opening. Every year, 500 scientists have internships abroad. The Ministry awards thousands of scholarships for young scientists. All these measures are aimed at positive impact of the development of science.
The President announced that the number of grants for research by young scientists would be increased again in the next two years. It is expected that 18 billion tenge will be allocated from the budget for these purposes. He also noted that new efforts would be made in the country to support science and the scientific community.
At the end of the event, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that social support for young scientists is the responsibility of the state, and solemnly presented housing certificates to 10 young scientists.
