Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry Minister Zhaslan Madiyev announced at a government meeting on July 16 that the share of universities in Kazakhstan teaching artificial intelligence (AI) is planned to increase to 60 percent by 2029, according to a Zakon.kz correspondent.
He emphasized that, as part of human capital development, a comprehensive innovative infrastructure is being developed to foster the AI ecosystem.
"The Alem.AI National Center, located on the site of the Nur-Alem Museum, will become a platform for collaboration between the government, science, business, and international partners. We plan to launch programming schools across the country using a peer-to-peer methodology based on hands-on learning through project implementation without instructors. This will promote student interaction and a research-based approach," the minister added.
According to him, collaboration with international companies and institutes to establish research centers in the country will allow AI scientists to work with leading partners.
"Overall, a program is being developed to promote the widespread use of AI in various areas of everyday life". It is planned that we will annually train 10,000 talented individuals, 1,000 AI specialists, 100 AI startups, and 10 research projects. The target indicator will be an increase in the share of universities training in AI from 20% in 2025 to 60% in 2029," continued Zhaslan Madiyev.
